The Legacy of Sorcerer Softball

A Vision Built by Phil Mumma

Sorcerer Softball was founded by the late Phil Mumma, a passionate coach and mentor who believed that the game of softball was more than a sport — it was a path to opportunity, growth, and lifelong friendships. With his vision, dedication, and tireless commitment, Phil laid the foundation for an organization that has become one of the most respected names in competitive fastpitch.

From the very beginning, Sorcerer was built on the principles of excellence, discipline, and character. Phil’s mission was not only to develop elite athletes capable of playing at the highest levels but also to shape strong young women who would carry the lessons of teamwork, perseverance, and leadership into every part of their lives.

A Tradition of Excellence

Over the years, Sorcerer teams have competed at the highest national levels, capturing regional and national championships and consistently being ranked among the top organizations in the country. Sorcerer athletes have earned recognition as All-Americans, conference standouts, and Women’s College World Series competitors.

Our legacy is written not only in titles and trophies but in the impact our players have had on the game and the example they set for future generations. From hard-fought battles on local fields to the national stage, Sorcerer athletes embody a relentless pursuit of excellence.

Developing the Whole Athlete

At Sorcerer Softball, success is measured not just in wins and scholarships but in the personal growth of every player. Athletes learn:

  • Discipline — balancing academics, athletics, and personal responsibility.
  • Teamwork — learning to lead and follow, to support and be accountable.
  • Resilience — handling both triumphs and setbacks with grace.

These values have made Sorcerer athletes standout leaders in their schools, communities, and later in their professional careers.

A Legacy That Lives On

Though Phil Mumma is no longer with us, his vision continues to guide every practice, every game, and every athlete who wears the Sorcerer name. Coaches, parents, and alumni carry forward his legacy by mentoring the next generation, ensuring that Sorcerer remains a place where dreams are pursued, skills are sharpened, and young women grow into their fullest potential.

The Sorcerer Softball legacy is more than history — it is a living tradition, renewed each season by the athletes who step onto the field with determination, pride, and the belief that they are part of something greater than themselves.
